Forest defender Daniel Pinillos slapped with fine over speeding incident
Nottingham Forest defender Daniel Pinillos has been fined £600 by a London court – because he didn’t tell them who was driving his powerful Mercedes when it was caught speeding by a camera.
The 24-year-old left-back, of River Crescent, Waterside Way, Colwick, also received six penalty points.
The Spanish player was listed in court under his full name of Daniel Pinillos Gonzalez.
He pleaded guilty at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court to failing to give information relating to the driver. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
His black three-litre Mercedes was snapped breaking the 30mph speed limit in Hanger Lane, Ealing on May 3, last year.
Daniel Pinillos has made a big impression on the pitch since being brought to Forest on a free transfer by Dougie Freedman in July 2015. The 24-year-old was relatively unknown on these shores at that point, having come through the ranks of Spanish football.
He began at Racing Santander, where he made more than 50 appearances for their B team, before moving to Ourense and then to Cordoba. He helped Cordoba to win promotion to La Liga, before being released following their relegation a year after.
Pinillos quickly established himself as first choice left-back at the City Ground, before suffering a serious knee ligament injury in December 2015.
He made his return to action last November and has once more established himself as a first team regular, having now made 25 Championship starts and a single sub appearance.
